This course is for the flower enthusiast looking to develop their designing skills, or the florist who wants to explore local, seasonal materials. Fiona will discuss the benefits of using locally grown flowers, and how this feeds into your creative practice and well being. You will discover the various routes to sourcing locally and how to design through the seasons using sustainable techniques.
After a delicious light, seasonal lunch, enjoyed together in the garden, you will begin an afternoon designing with flowers that Fiona has selected from the PYRUS garden and local area. Creating a table centre, in a unique hand made ceramic vessel, by local potter Allison Weightmann, you will explore considerations such as shape and movement, form and texture, colour, and how to develop your own personal style.
The afternoon will be full of discussion, sharing and a good helping of flowery TLC!
