Do you love working outside, feeling connected with the seasons, and being surrounded by flowers? You do? Do you have at least three years experience in horticulture or crop production, and would love a career change into floriculture? Well, we are looking for a Head Gardener/ Grower to join our team this 2024 season, at the PYRUS walled garden in East Lothian.

This seasonal position is currently for 16hrs per week from May-November, but has the opportunity to develop into a permanent role for the right candidate. Responsibilities will focus around managing the seasonal tasks that come with a 3 acre walled garden, and roughly 2 acres growing space. We need someone who is self motivated, fit, confident managing a large garden or crops with excellent organisational and problem solving skills, and of course, importantly, a love and appreciation of flowers. Experience with organic growing practises is a bonus, and some excel skills for data recording. Our walled garden is a 30 minute drive from Edinburgh city centre (EH34) near the village of Pencaitland in East Lothian. Candidates need to have the ability to access the garden independently by car (the role can include early mornings before the bus service starts).
