OUR PURPOSE
A LIVING PRACTICE.
Rooted in a Victorian walled garden just outside Edinburgh, PYRUS is more than a botanical design studio—it is a living, breathing philosophy. Established in 2011 to grow the flowers we couldn’t find elsewhere—fragrant, fleeting, full of movement—PYRUS has always been a response to a need: for beauty, for seasonality and for a slower, more intentional way of working with nature.
Every stem we use is grown with care, harvested with purpose, and chosen for the story it helps tell. Our work is grounded in respect—for time, for place and for the imperfect poetry of nature. We believe flowers carry meaning beyond their beauty; they create atmosphere, evoke memory and hold space. We design with all of this in mind.
In a world where most cut flowers are flown thousands of miles, often at great environmental and human cost, we offer an alternative. Two imported bouquets can generate the same carbon emissions as one person flying from Paris to London. Behind their glossy appearance lies a system of chemical use, water waste and poor working conditions. By choosing to grow and work locally, we believe there’s a gentler way.

WHAT SETS US APART
our difference lies in the details, the discipline and the depth of care.
grown, not flown
Our work begins in the garden. Every flower we use is grown in our Victorian walled garden in East Lothian or sourced from trusted artisan growers across Scotland and the UK. Always local. Always seasonal.
seasonal by nature
We follow the rhythm of the year—from the first snowdrops to the last dahlias. Our designs are rooted in seasonality, shaped by the land and brought to life with materials that hold meaning in the moment.
artfully made
With over a decade of practice, we bring a sculptural, emotionally-led approach to floristry. When you’ve grown the materials yourself, there’s a responsibility to honour them—and a deep creative drive to express them in their best possible light.
LED BY EXCELLENCE
We go further to find what’s needed—gathering from estates, partnering with growers and refining every detail. Our standards are high, our sourcing careful and our commitment to quality unwavering.
OUR TEAM
A small team with a shared vision—quietly creative and devoted to the garden.
PYRUS is led by Founder and Creative Director Fiona Inglis, whose background in design and applied arts shapes the studio’s creative direction. But the work is never hers alone. The garden is a living, evolving space—and it takes a team to meet it with the care and attention it deserves.
From experienced growers with backgrounds in organic veg production and large-scale flower farming, to our garden coordinator, garden manager, harvesters and volunteers—every person plays a vital role.
Together, we plan, plant, gather and create. It’s this balance of vision and action, instinct and precision, that allows the work to bloom.
We always welcome an extra pair of hands in the garden. If you’d like to volunteer, please get in touch—we’d love to hear from you.
